1) You need to get your hands on the book "Teaching Mathematics" by Max Sobel and Evan Maletsky. It has ALL the hands on materials for conics. Additionally, it is a great book for someone wanting to teach mathematics. The wax paper or patty paper folds are terrific! 2) There is a great NCTM publication called "Dancing Curves" which is a phenomenal tool for teaching the conics. -Claudia, for the Teacher2Teacher service
