The Teacher Exchange is a combination of our previous Web Units and Lessons page and the idea of encouraging the mathematics education community to contribute their own lessons to the Math Forum @ Drexel site.

We chose to use the NCTM model for reorganizing our content because it provides a common starting point for a general audience. Materials are organized first according to the NCTM-defined grade level bands, and within grade levels by the content standards delineated by NCTM:

• Number & Operations
• Algebra
• Geometry
• Measurement
• Data Analysis & Probability.

These five content strands grow in complexity through the NCTM defined grade bands. Since there is overlap in both content topics and grade level appropriateness, some lessons have multiple listings.

Grades Pre-K-2
Grades 3-5
Grades 6-8
Grades 9-12

Contents beyond the scope of the NCTM grade bands are listed in an additional category:

We will continue to provide and enhance the high-quality content and services available from the Math Forum @ Drexel, and greatly value your participation and contributions to an expanding set of resources for the global mathematics education community.

Sites that meet the following three criteria are candidates for listing on the Teacher Exchange grade band pages.

1. The mathematics is accurate.
2. The resource fosters understanding or supports implementation of the NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics.
3. The resource is well-organized, easy to navigate, and well-maintained.
