I would like some innovative, yet feasible ideas on how to approach area and perimeter problems. This is only my second year teaching and I have quickly come to realize that the idea of area and perimeter eludes even the best of my general math students. I try my best to use real-life scenarios such as the time I had to decide on an appropriate sized area rug for my living room. However, when the students are faced with similar situations they cannot discern whether they are dealing with perimeter or area problems. Ideas for mini- projects are much welcomed!
