Transformations

I would like assistance in teaching my students transformations. I usually present this topic after my students have mastered and thoroughly understand graphing polygons.

From past experiences, I have come to realize that the students have difficulties in visualizing transformations. The topic of rotations appears to be the most troublesome. I have tried using the blackboard, an overhead, hands- on rotations, and the computer; however, the students continue to have problems when rotations are asked to be done on paper.

I would be grateful for any assistance or feedback which the Swarthmore Program can provide.
