Software
For the development of the software environment, we began an intensive collaboration with researchers and developers at Fraunhofer Institute-IPSI in Darmstadt, Germany. They had developed a chat system with a shared drawing area and a referencing tool that provided both a form of threading in the chat and an integration of the drawing area with the chat. Their ConcertChat system formed the basis for VMT-Chat; it is licensed from IPSI for the VMT project. Working closely together, we not only improved the functionality of the chat rooms, but designed a Lobby for creating and finding chat rooms.
