Solution Notes

Problem 1156 was solved by Joseph DeVincentis, John Shrimpton, John Sullivan and John Guilford.

Sullivan's solution is short: "Just take 2d-checkerboards and stack them on top of each other, but instead of swapping colors every layer, swap only every second layer."
