- We need scenarios for the design of VMT lobby. We would like people to contribute on adding scenarios of using VMT service. For example, what you could imagine a particular person would like to do in the VMT lobby, e.g. finding someone to work on a math problem, scheduling a meeting, etc. They don't have to be long. They can be brief. Each of us will come up with at least one.
- There are already some on the wiki, which you can take a look. Go to the vmt wiki homepage, under "Current information", click "Personas, Scenarios and Issues for VMT 2008".
- Please add your scenarios there.
- One resource that Joel found useful to help understanding scenarios is ["getting to know users and their tasks"].
- We will allocate about half an hour to dicuss our scenarios and brainstorm on the next meeting.
- The page with old scenarios may need to be cleaned up since some of them are based on older versions of the lobby.
- Alan reported on the data session Alan, Terry and Nan had last Saturday. They looked at two excerpts from Team C Spring fest 2006. The first one starts at timestamp 5/9/06 6:45:11 PM, from the first session, where ssjnish posts "just to clarify sumthing,...". (You can [download the jno file] and use the replayer to play) The excerpt ends at 6:51:11PM. The second excerpt in contrast to this is at about the beginning of the second session where qwertyuiop as a new comer asks a question, which got answered by Jason. We looked at the data together and analyzed it. Some of the discussions can be found in the chatroom, where some summaries were provided in retrospect: go to the [VMT lobby]-> log in -> choose VMT research as project -> click on "patterns and sequences" -> click on "Toothpicks". The room name is [DataSession Jan31 08]?.
- Since the beginning of this winter term, we have started analyzing Team B data (from Spring Fest 2006) in detail at our afternoon data session. We have decided to use "Google documents" to share our annotations and notes for the data analysis. For those who haven't shared those documents, here are the instructions on how to get access to the shared documents. Basically, you need to sign in google docs using our vmt account and invite yourself:
- 1. first make sure you are signed out in google if you were logged in with your own account. then go to www.google.com
- 2. there are some links on the top left of the page. click on "more". from the drop down list, click "documents".
- 3. log in using:
- username: vmt_lobby
- password: mathforum
- 4. once you logged in, you will see two spreadsheets: teamb session2 and teamb session1. click on one of them, you will see the shared spreadsheet.
- 5. on the top right corner, there are three blue tabs. click on "Share".
- 6. invite yourself by adding your email address in the box. (the default should be invite as collaborators)Note: the email doesn't have to be gmail account.
