Erosion
Project: Beach Problem

Coastal Erosion
How does your problem change when you are dealing with beach erosion instead of down-cutting in a river bed?
- Is the problem more difficult or mathematically easier to solve?
- When you are determining preventative measures, why is surface area important to you?
We have measured the erosion in a 100 yd. sample beach. The above sketch is a cross-section of the beach. The solid line represents the "before" and the dotted line represents the "after erosion. How much soil has been displaced?
