I have been teaching mathematics for 25 years at both the junior high and high school level. I am presently the Regional Department Leader for Mathematics for grades 7-12 in the Acton Boxborough Regional School District in Acton, Massachusetts.

Over the years I have worked with computers in the word processing and spreadsheet environments. I would like to expand my use of computers and this is the reason for my taking this course with the people from Swarthmore's Math Forum.

I am hoping to get information on how to use the Internet to help students use the Internet to enhance their learning of mathematics. I envision a system in which students can access from home their homework assignments, get extra help from other students or teachers on line, do research on how math is used in the "real" world, make connections with adults out in the work force who can act as mentors for high school and middle school students and to generally become knowledgeable about seeking learning using the Internet as a tool. I myself feel I need to learn all these things too... I feel some students, who have the time to explore are well ahead of me at this point. I need to catch up or at least try not to get lost in the stampede.

My favorite places that I found on the Internet this week
