Bob Coulter is wrapping up a stint as a project coordinator at TERC in Cambridge, MA, working on the Testbed for Telecollaboration. In the fall he will be returning to the classroom to work with third grade students at an independent school in St. Louis. For the next three years Bob expects to be field testing new math-rich telecollaboration projects based at TERC, including Classroom FeederWatch and Leveraging Learning, an enhancement of the National Geographic Kids Network program. He will also continue with TERC as a paid consultant for approximately 18 months, writing and doing conference presentations about his experiences online with kids.
Bob's 10 years of teaching experience cover pre-kindergarten through graduate school, with the vast majority of being with grades 3-6. He has just finished a doctorate in curriculum and teaching at Boston University. He has fairly extensive experience using the Internet, with kids, other teachers, and for himself. In his most recent teaching experiences and at TERC he has been focusing on telecollaborative projects ranging from simple Geogame-type projects to more elaborate data-sharing projects involving hundreds of schools. He would like to focus on developing curriculum and developing working relationships with other math educators so as to exchange experiences with collaborative online projects.
