SEND IN YOUR IDEAS!!: We need your input on how to plan curricula that enable the student to take on at least three positions vis-a-vis the mathematics:
- Student as mini or apprentice mathematician
- Student as citizen-mathematician (reading the newspaper, being a wise consumer, etc.)
- Student as object of mathematical study
We anxiously await your input!
BUILD A UNIT ON RHYTHMIC PATTERNS!!: We need your input on how to plan a five-week thematic unit that includes three parts:
As always, we anxiously await your input!
- an introductory activity
- a three week period for student generated projects
- a period of archaeology and celebration in which a class identifies the mathematics they have learned.
CONSIDER A POSSIBLE LINK: Is this link you will get to by clicking on "CONSIDER" an example of citizen mathematician, or student (people) as objects of study? Is there something positive, or reprehensible? Note the graphs representing "evidence." Where would you place a visit to this site in a three-part unit? More Soon! Share your vision.
