Jill Tucker

E-mail: tucker@trms.k12.ga.net

Jill Tucker is a teacher of gifted children at the Taylor Road Middle School in Duluth, GA. She is interested in developing lessons that use the Internet as a resource and integrate other subjects into the math curriculum, and has been working on creating lessons in math and other subject areas. You can see some of her work at http://trms.k12.ga.net/~jtucker/. She would like to concentrate on creating lessons that involve real data from sites on the WWW, which she feels can teach 'real-world' problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. She has been involved in a grant written by Georgia State University and sponsored by Coca-Cola called "Project Trees" (Technology Rich Educational Environments), the purpose of which was to help teachers change teaching strategies while integrating technology into the classroom. She believes that technology is most effective when used as a tool of rather than just a supplement to the curriculum.
