Next year: Computer Aided Mathematics for Secondary Teachers

Who Joel Duffin

I've spent the last four years helping out with the design and development of the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives. In December I completed my dissertation study which involved the development and evaluation of an authoring tool that lets teachers build online lessons by using existing mathlets. I've taught a couple of semesters of College Algebra as well as an online course for an instructional technology MS program.

In the fall I will be teaching a class titled Computer Aided Mathematics for Secondary Teachers. During the ToolFest I will be working to create, find, and refine good examples of technology assisted lessons for secondary math. Specific technologies I will be working with include Scientific Calculators, Spreadsheets, Palm Pilots, Geometer's Sketchpad, Mathlets, and Maple.
