We began the tessellation activity by exploring Suzanne Alejandre's tessellation tutorial. Using ClarisWorks we opened a paint document. We created squares and transformed them into "tessela" or "tessera". We decorated the interiors of the "tessela" . Then we selected and copied the new form, transformed the colors, and arranged them in a tesselated pattern.
Here are two tessellations that I created. The first is called "Amoebas at the Beach"; the second is called "School Days".
