As a new teacher I am interested in getting ideas on how to have my students understand word problems. I have taught 6th and 7th grades. This past school year I had a difficult time working with my students preparing them for the SAT9. The most difficult area of the test I felt was the open ended questions where the students had to explain how they arrived at their answer. This year I want to put particular energy into this area so that my students will be more successful.
After learning about tessellations (above) I found a great lesson for understanding the stock market.
