The focus of my project is problem solving in math using word problems and performance assessment tasks for middle school students. I felt that students had a difficult time with the open ended questions while working with the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT-9). The scores from the SAT9 are being used to base how successful a school's students are in the areas of Math, Science, Reading and Language Arts. Word problem will help develop Math, Reading and Language Arts skills. Students are asked not only solve to the problem but also give a reasonable explanation as to how they arrived at the answer.

I have searched many Internet Sites and have come up with some that I feel would help students become efficient in this area.
