Assume that we have a secret code that works like this: A=1, B=2, C=3 and so on until we reach Z=26. Using your code, answer the questions below:
1. What is the value of your first name? Your second name? Your full name?
2. What is the value of the words "MathWorld Interactive?"
3. Find a word that has the greatest value? The least value?
4. Can you find a word that has a value of 10? 50? Of 100? Of 200?
5. If your code changed and all the original code was multiplied by 10 (ex: A = 10, B=20, C=30...), how would that change your answers to questions #1-4?
6. Develop a code of your own different from the code here and write three NEW questions to share with your fellow MathWorld Interactive participants.
1. If you have a digital camera or scanner, you might want to send some pictures to mathworld@sbcglobal.net so we can share in your hard work. If you'd like your pictures to be added to the MathWorld Interactive website, follow the instructions listed here.
2. Be sure to take the MathWorld Interactive Problem-Solving Tutorial for help on writing your six steps.
