A little about me ...

Professional

I joined the Math Forum in February, 1999. My general interests are to help people learn. More specifically, I'd like to use technology in appropriate ways to facilitate learning. In my current incarnation, I'm focusing on math. Two interests of mine are to:
  1. teach and learn over the web,
  2. learn about teaching and learning over the web, and
  3. determine appropriate ways to use technology in the classroom, and figuring out how to disseminate that information to teachers.

I am also interested in literacy. I built a web-based book recommendation system to help middle school students find books they would like to read. Unfortunately, it hasn't been kept up-to-date with the operating and database systems, and so is not accessible on-line at this time. Maybe someday I'll get some money to focus on it again.

Personal

For fun, I dance. One of my favorite forms of dance is Israeli folk dancing. This is a beautiful form of dancing, both for Israelis and non-Israelis, Jews and non-Jews (even though people in Israel are astonished that non-Jews dance it in the states).

I speak Hebrew relatively fluently, having studied in Israel for three years, and am interested in second language acquisition in general.

Oh! Is that Andie MacDowell's picture on this page? How'd that get there? Read this to find out.

This is closer to what I really look like.
