Assignment due Thursday, November 6

Finding and Contributing Content

Pick 2 subjects at different levels that you think people want to learn about and that teachers might want teaching ideas for. Look in the following three parts of the Math Forum site for resources for learning and teaching those subjects. Keep notes about what you do and where you go.

Requirements:
1. Come to class next Thursday ready to show us 1-2 things that you found. (You'll have about 2 minutes only, unless you work with a partner in which case you'll get twice as much time.)
2. Turn in a one-page reflection on the activity. Like last week, this is informal. Just write about what you notice, what you like, what you found.

  • You can use the projector to show a couple of sites. (to be prepared, you'll want to know the URLs)
  • You might ask the students in the class to solve a problem or puzzle that you find.
  • You might have other ideas about what you want to have us look at.

Be careful looking around the Internet Mathematics Library because the links will take you off-site. It's a catalog of other websites (and stuff on the Math Forum) that contain math and math education resources.

  1. How easy is it to find the information you are looking for?
  2. As a community member, how can you submit ideas or resources?
  3. What did you find that you like?
