For this course, you will be asked to turn in an informal portfolio with your final project. This portfolio will contain artifacts from the work you do in the course as well as thinking that you'll do throughout the course.

I am not asking you to keep a course journal, but I recommend that you jot down some notes for yourself as you complete each assignment and attend class. Those notes, in addition to the discussion posts in the Online Mentoring Guide, the mentoring you'll do, and any reflections I ask you to turn in will be the basis for your portfolio. I am hoping that as you move through the first six class meetings, you will be putting your ideas together that will lead to a final project.

You will turn in your informal portfolio with your final project.

Some of the thing you might think about throught the course:

  • How do you learn an idea/concept when it's something new or hard?
  • Where do you get help with learning when you need it?
  • How does the Math Forum maintain a feeling of community?
  • Is the Math Forum a community?
