Goals of this session:
We will learn about ways in which the Math Forum explicitly supports professional development and teachers' views of themselves as learners.
- We will be introduced to Teacher2Teacher and Bridging Research and Practice -- two projects facilitated by the Math Forum.
- Conversation will focus on ways that the Web and in particular The Math Forum can support furthering teacher's professional learning.
- Ways in which these experiences have been used to attain professional credit will be discussed.
Research
Teaching professionals must be able to form their own teaching community in order to change teaching practices. (Corcoran 1995; Liberman 1996)
Community must offer teachers convenient access to high-quality experiences and resources, and teachers must derive personal value, reward, and efficiencies from their participation in the community. (Harris 1995)
