The Art of Math Challenge Home    October 13, 2016 Workshop    March 5, 2017 Event    March 5 Student Projects

On Sunday, March 5 representing schools across the greater Philadelphia area, math teachers, art teachers, K-12 students, and their families attended the Barnes Foundation's 2nd annual Art of Math Challenge. Student groups created 3-dimensional models of paintings in the Barnes Foundation collection using math and design strategies.

Hosted by the Barnes Foundation in partnership with the Math Forum at NCTM, this competition culminated at the STEAM Fair. Student submissions were displayed in the Annenberg Court among activities and demonstrations by local STEAM artists and professionals. It was wonderful to greet and talk with our student designers and learn about their experiences in combining science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).
