Subject: Thanks for your question!

This is an automatic message that we send to everybody who sends
us a message. If you want to write Dr. Math back, please DO NOT
reply to this message, because then your mail will go to the
wrong address. Write to dr.math@mathforum.org or visit
our web page and submit your message there. Also, please do not
send us files as e-mail attachments: we cannot read them.

Are you curious about what we are? Dr. Math is a service for
students from Kindergarten through 12th grade (typically ages 5
to 18 in the American school system). Because of the large
number of questions we receive, WE CANNOT PROMISE TO RESPOND TO
EVERY QUESTION PEOPLE ASK US. If we don't respond to your
question, don't forget to check our archives
</dr.math/> to see whether there is a
question similar to yours. We generally try to answer the most
recent questions first, so most of our responses get sent
within one or two days of when the question is sent to us.

We receive a large number of questions that deal with math
_education_ and math _teaching_ (which are not really math
questions), and we are generally not prepared to deal with such
questions. For these types of questions, you might try posting to a
newsgroup such as k12.ed.math.

Once again, thanks for your question, and we hope you hear from us
soon!
