Stepping aside from the mathematical issues, a news report early this
morning (that would be afternoon, European time) claimed that by the
time the last appeal to save at least the giant statues reached Kabul,
the Taliban had already proclaimed the statues destroyed. Let's hope
this regime destroys itself before they inflict any more damage either
on the people or their cultural heritage.
