I remember coming up with this when I was relatively young and being
really excited:


Assume pi + e rational; then (pi + e)^2 is rational, and as pi^2 and
e^2 are irrational (since pi and e are transcendental), either pi^2 +
e^2 is rational or pi * e is irrational.


Someone had to forcibly calm me down and point out that someone had
probably already though of this.
