On December 17, I quoted in full the post by L. Andrew Campbell which is quoted in part below (the quoted part being Campbell's quotation of email to him from Arno van den Essen).

Moh has just posted 2 pages of comments to the arXiv; they make entertaining reading for those who are interested in the checkered history of this problem.
