Well, this David Petry certainly seems to be a crank. Unfortunately, certain trends in postmodern thought have given the kinds of arguments that this David Petry presented a certain surface plausibility that they would not otherwise have. Alan Sokal very effectively satirized this form of pomo, a decade ago, with his witty hoaxing of the pomo journal, Social Text. Alas, the lessons of that have apparently not quite sunk in with everyone yet.
