What I find disturbing is that a student who has basically Mastered 35% of the material gets a 65 and goes on to Geometry with little or no Algebra skills. I understand it is an exit exam, but in my opinion it is unfair to the students and parents to make them think their son/daughter has passed or even gotten in the 70 0r 80 and they will get the same grades in a much harder course.

So many times parents will say but my child got and 80% on the algebra regents, why are they doing poorly in Geometry.

Instead of making a true Algebra exam, worth the 100 points, so everyone knows exactly how the scoring is done, a scaled score is done giving the students/parents a false sense of what the student knows.

If the state wants an exit exam then make up one and leave the Alg/Geo/Trig alone and let teachers Teach.
