If he has a photo of it, he can display it (the photo) just as much whether I hide the art or destroy it. If he doesn't have a photo, he has no legal ability to display the art: I don't have to let him. If he has the legal ability to prevent me from displaying it publicly, he can exercise that just fine if I destroy it (in fact, that makes it even easier for him to exercise).
