Subject: Probability of a free path
I am interested in finding out if anyone has done any work on the
problem of finding the probability of the existence of a free path in an
obstacle field. Basically, the problem is: given a number of shapes
(assume any shape and size distribution you like) placed randomly in
a bounded area, what is the probability that there exists a path between
two fixed points in the bounded area that does not contact any of the
randomly placed shapes?
Pointers to references would be most appreciated.
