The number of things Induction works for is infinite.

Each of these things is finite.

You can use induction to show that
if you remove a finite thing
then the union of all lines does not change.

You cannot use induction to show that if you
remove an infinite thing then the union
of all lines does not change.

You can only have no lines left if you
remove an infinite thing.
