Greatest deviation correlation coefficient

I normally use the Pearson's correlation coefficient and the Spearman's
rank correlation coefficient.

Now I would try to use the greatest deviation correlation coefficient:
but the problem is that I don't see x and y, I only see the rank p_j.
Please, would someone explain?
