We haven't had too many free mentoring opportunities in the Pre-Algebra Problem of the Week this year. I wanted to alert you to one that starts Monday, May 16 for the problem: Forming Triangles from a Folding Ruler
It just previewed today and will be available through May 29. You can use the link at the bottom of the PreAlg page to view it: http://mathforum.org/prealgpow/
In Forming Triangles from a Folding Ruler, students are asked to describe the three triangles that can be made with the full length of a 6 foot long folding wooden ruler.
This PoW could be used to talk about: * acute * equilateral * isosceles * obtuse * perimeter * right * scalene * triangles * Triangle Inequality Property
We would love it if your students submit solutions. If your students receive replies from a mentor, encourage them to revise. Not only will your students learn more, but the mentors will learn as well!
Sincerely, Suzanne
