Hello, everyone!
Here is some information about our latest expedition, about an ABE instructor from Oregon going to sea with oceanographers. Kathleen Salinas, the instructor, is including some wonderful math problems in her daily online journals, which should be up on the website starting August 23, 2005.
Plankton Layers: Salad Bars in the Upper Ocean August 17-September 10, 2005
Join oceanographers as they travel by ship to Monterey Bay, California to do scientific research. Also joining the team is an instructor in adult basic education from Rogue Community College, Grants Pass, Oregon. She will be sending daily online journal articles. Many of the journals contain basic math problems about the science and the life on board the ship. Follow the ship's cruise track, read the journals, and send an email to the instructor. Ask questions of the scientists and crew members on the ship, and the instructor will find the answers!
