If I am reading the question properly, I do get the £10.40. The question wording makes the 30% increase irrelevant. The £7.80 is for 9 eggs now (3 less) after the 30% raise. The price now would then be 12/9 of the £7.80 or £10.40. The important word in the question to me is "are".
