[apcalculus] grading practice exam

My students just finished taking the AP practice exam and a few questions have come up:
On FRQ #1 b a few students only used equation E(t) and didn't account for the rate at which sewage was leaving. The still showed their work to find critical numbers and evaluate the max value. Would this be a case where the grader would "read with" their mistake and they could still get partial credit or would only using E(t) be considered simplifying the problem and thus not earn any points?
On FRQ #2 students defined intersection points with letters in part a. Can they then refer to them throughout or do they need to restate it for each additional part of the problem that they use them on?
Thanks!
