Hello Dwayne and other forum members,
I would strongly encourage you to update from the 2.53 MP to the latest OS 2.55MP.
There was an issue with converting a+bi form to Fraction in the 2.53 MP that is addressed in the 2.55 MP.
Additionally, the 2.55 MP includes a Stats Wizard that improves the user interface when performing and Stat Calculations/Regressions.
Now as far as the Log and Summations templates inquiry for Math Regents Exams.
Neither of those functionalities infringe on the State Education's Calculator guidelines. They do not produce solutions in symbolic form.
The summations could be done on the older models of TI calculators but you needed to know the syntax of SUM(SEQ(Expression, variable, lower value...... no student was ever going to remember!!!
I have met with the content and assessment department members and they did not have any issue with these two templates on the TI-84+ or TI-Nspire handhelds.
