Toni,
I think I know the #19 you are referring to.
Using the cumulative relative frequencies is the way to go.
Find the first time this column goes above 0.25 -- this is Q1 at 10
Find the first time this column goes above 0.75 v-- this is Q2 at 18
So the IQR = 18 - 10 = 8

Outlier < 10 - 1.5(8) or Outlier > 18 + 1.5(8)
Outlier < -2 or Outlier > 30

Since there are no trees with diameters of 31, 32, or 33, 34 is the first one.

Subject: [ap-stat] Practice Exam #19

Can anyone provide an explanation for number 19 on the MC part of the practice exam? There is a very long table that goes with it on the prior page. I thought you would use the cumulative relative frequencies to get the IQR, but that didn't work out. Thanks!
