Calculation of square and cube roots--simple method

Dissatisfied with the methods of extracting roots of numbers, I came up with a method of my own. I wrote about it here: http://www.opednews.com/Diary/Breaking-the-chains-of-squ-by-Peter-Duveen-120219-272.html

The existence of such a simple method could prompt the re-inclusion of root extraction into the standard curriculum. Many students ask whether the root of a number can be calculated, and a teacher is often at a loss to help them.
