Improper Systems : PID?

Hi... !
Dear Netters,
How do you get to put these two systems together using "series" command
in Matlab?
I obtained "improper systems" error message since PID is basically an
improper system.

r --->o-------> PID --------> plant ---------+------> y

I need this to obtain bode plots of the closed-loop system. I have
tried "cov" commands, but I think that produces a slightly different
system ie different step response from the one implemented in Simulink.
