Hi Group,

Although not strictly a MatLab question, I'm sure many users also use nc files to hold data. I have a problem, which is probably not so hard to solve if you know how:

I have a 60x110x95 arrray in MatLab. I create an nc file with the proper dimensions and put the variable in there using the defined dimensions - all is fine. But when I open the newly made nc file in an nc-viewer (e.g. Panoply), I see the data set fine, but I'm not allowed to plot it (in the nc software). Other files I have seem to be configured to allow the user to plot certain variables, if they make sense to view as a map. In panoply this can seen from seeing '[lat][lon]' in the Type column, where as in my new file Type is empty. Is there something special you have to do at creation time to make a variable "plottable"?

Thanks!

best,

JS
