Although I don't like the distribution of questions on this test either, I completely disagree that topics like probability and statistics are unimportant for future math...I'm pretty sure actuaries, for example, would disagree with you... Could we also all please be careful to keep our filters on (pssss...you swore out loud on the list serve) and our political biases to ourselves. Thanks! Liz

Exactly. If I were a right winger prone to conspiracy theory I would be adamant hat they used this test to gather data about probability and combinatorics for uture "placement" of the unit. This unit seems to be the ugly stepchild of the urriculum ("hot potato", for those PC or easily offended). I am sick of orking my ass off (and the asses of my kids) reviewing things that are actually mportant for future math (like functions, graphing, etc.)only to be derailed by test overloaded with questions on topics that really could be split off into lective classes/units. Ugh. July 1 is day one of retirement after 35 years. f ever I needed confirmation of my decision ... this exam was it (and don't get e started on APPR.) Good luck to all, especially those new to the field. ****************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this mailing list, email the message "unsubscribe nyshsmath" to majordomo@mathforum.org
