Can Try this,

a = ones(20,20);
b = ['a'; 'b'; 'c'; 'd'; 'e' ;'f' ;'g'; 'h'; 'i'; 'j'; 'k'; 'l'; 'm'; 'n'; 'o'; 'p'; 'q'; 'r'; 's'; 't']';
c = {};
for aa = 1:length(b)
c{aa} = [b(aa); num2str(a(:,aa))]';
end
