Assistant Professor Tenure Track

Baylor University has a long history and strong reputation for
preparing high quality teachers. Together with our school partners,
the School of Education prepares teachers widely sought after by
Texas schools and around the U.S. and often equated to teachers with
several years of experience. Per Baylor's strategic vision, Pro
Futuris, we are initiating a process to advance this nationally
recognized program to an even higher level, developing a stronger
national model while simultaneously improving the knowledge base from
which teachers are prepared. We seek to hire a faculty member in the
Department of Curriculum & Instruction who is both scholarly and
appreciates the practical nature of the educational enterprise.

POSITION: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of
Curriculum and Instruction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in English/Language Arts,
Literacy Education, Mathematics Education, Social Studies Education
or closely related field; scholarly record, or potential for a
scholarly record, in the associated field; and teaching experience in
grades EC-12.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum and Instruction provides undergraduate
and graduate programs in elementary, middle and secondary education.
Primary responsibilities for this position include: teaching
undergraduate and graduate courses in English/Language Arts,
Literacy, Mathematics or Social Studies Education; scholarly pursuits
worthy of national/international recognition; participating
in/leading collaborative efforts to secure external funding;
supporting teacher candidate and practitioner colleague development
in EC-12 partner school settings; recruiting and mentoring graduate
students, including graduate teaching assistants; and actively
engaging with the community and serving the department, school,
university and the profession at large.

RANK AND SALARY: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor. Salary will be
commensurate with qualifications and professional experience. The
anticipated date of appointment is August 2014.
