Assistant Professor - Tenure Track

Department of Elementary Education and Childhood Studies

The Department of Elementary Education and Childhood Studies at
Plymouth State University invites applications for a tenure-track
faculty position in Education at the rank of Assistant Professor. We
seek a dynamic educator who is committed to teaching excellence.
This individual should have expertise in math education at the
elementary level. The position will commence in August of 2014.

Our Elementary Education and Childhood Studies Department strives to
prepare knowledgeable and committed professionals who will work with
diverse children and their families in a variety of settings both in
and outside of the classroom setting. Plymouth State University is
an NCATE-accredited institution.

The Elementary Education and Childhood Studies programs have recently
been revised and updated, offering an exciting opportunity for new
faculty to take on key roles in our program. We are a collaborative
and energetic faculty who strive to practice and model reflective
teaching. The faculty is also engaged in outreach and partnerships
with area public schools.

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be
expected to teach undergraduate courses in math pedagogy for
Elementary Education teacher candidates. Additional courses may
include Science Methodology, Working with Children and Families,
Introduction to Childhood Studies, and the Senior Capstone Seminar.
S/he will also engage in scholarship and in service activities both
internal and external to the campus.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Math Education or related
field (ABD's will be considered); 3 - 5 years experience working with
children and families; at least one (1) semester of college-level
teaching; excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to
collaborate with colleagues; expertise in educational technology and
experience teaching and/or working with diverse children and
families; expertise or experience with using technology in the
classroom and/or online courses.

Additional Desirable Qualifications: Expertise in successful STEM
practices; participation in collaborative programs and projects;
grant writing experience; supervisory experience; evidence of
scholarly activity; familiarity with NCATE accreditation processes.
