COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION WEEK

http://www.csedweek.org/

Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) boots up Monday,
9 December.

Advocating "an hour of code for every student" the second week
of December, CSEdWeek occurs annually in recognition of the
birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper.
Three million students have already registered to participate
in tens of thousands of events, many as part of their entire
school hosting an "Hour of Code." Join the fun here:

http://csedweek.org/participate

The Hour of Code's most popular tutorial, "write your first
computer program," plays like a game and features video
lectures that star Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Angry Birds
and Plants vs. Zombies. Other tutorials include

- create your own interactive holiday card
- an introduction to JavaScript
- make three simple apps for Android phones or tablets
- build your own game

No computers for your students? CSEdWeek does not require any
special hardware or software, or even prior coding experience
from teachers. Download an "unplugged tutorial" for classrooms
without computers here:

http://csedweek.org/sites/csedweek/files/CSEDrobotics.pdf

As a thank you gift, every educator who registers to host an
Hour of Code receives 10GB of free DropBox storage:

http://csedweek.org/prizes

For posters, statistics about computing jobs and CS education,
sample emails addressed to principals and parents promoting the
Hour of Code, and other helpful planning materials, check out
CSEdWeek's Resource Kit:

Now taking place: math education conversation of the day

"Yes. Your example did work as a counterexample. Thanks. Now, I
could sleep very well like a big baby :)"
