Tenure-Track Position in Math Education

The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at Berry College
invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics
Education. Preference will be given to candidates who have
substantial statistics background, or whose scholarly work is in
undergraduate mathematics or statistics education.

The position supports programs of P-12 mathematics teacher education
at the baccalaureate and master's degree levels. Candidates must have
a background appropriate to teach a variety of mathematics content
and methods courses. The typical teaching load is 21 credit hours per
year and includes service courses, courses for majors and student
teacher supervision. Teaching efforts will be supported by faculty
members who embrace active learning pedagogies.

Candidates are expected to develop and implement a productive
research agenda. Opportunities exist, and are encouraged, with
on-campus P-8 laboratory schools, the School of Education faculty,
already-established local school partnerships, and the national STEM
initiative Sally Ride Science program. Support is available for
faculty research and collaboration with undergraduates, which is

Qualifications: Doctorate in mathematics education or related field
with significant evidence of graduate coursework in mathematics and
education. ABD with anticipated degree completion before August 2014
will be considered. At least three years of experience teaching
mathematics in P-12 schools is required.

Berry College, located in northwest Georgia next to Rome, is an
