College Information

The College of Education and Professional Studies currently has 97
full-time and over 100 part-time faculty organized in seven
departments. The college offers 23 undergraduate majors and 27
graduate majors. All teacher education programs are NCATE accredited.
Other programs are recognized at the state and national levels with
accreditations by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the
American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Speech-Language
Hearing Association (ASHA), the National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Council on Family
Relations (NCFR), and the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation
(OCTP). UCO's College of Education and Professional Studies has an
enrollment of nearly 4,800 students, about one-fourth of whom are

Job Description/Responsibilities

Department Specific Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include teaching undergraduate
and graduate courses in math education with emphasis on pre-school
and primary mathematics. Candidates may also be responsible for other
coursework in the elementary education program. In addition,
responsibilities include supervision of pre-service teachers,
maintaining data for the program assessment plan, completing
electronic portfolio assessments, completing state required annual
public school experience, maintaining a current knowledge base in the
field of early childhood mathematics learning, engaging in
scholarly/creative activities and serving on committees at all levels
of the University.

Master's degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood or Early
Childhood Mathematics with a doctorate in Elementary Education, Early
Childhood Education, Mathematics Education with emphasis in early
childhood (Pre-K-3rd Grade) mathematics or a degree in a closely
related field with emphasis in early childhood mathematics education


Candidates who are ABD in their doctoral programs will be considered
with the expectation of degree completion on or before the end of the
first year of employment.

Certification preferred in Elementary Education and/or Early
Childhood Education and previous experience teaching elementary/early
childhood mathematics in public school is required.

Experience teaching elementary/early childhood teacher education
mathematics methods courses at the university level is preferred.
