This is a system of digit multiplication.
For example with a problem of 2 * 3 = ?, count to an xcoordinate of 2 with a ycoordinate of 3 for a result of 6.
Now it can't be refuted that both the "2" and the "3" are used in the process for the example problem.
Also, this process can't be refuted as a fundamental process since this is a system of counting.
Or this process might be refuted as a fundamental process since it involves counting on two number lines instead of on one number line. But this process can't be refuted as a valid process.
This process might be recognized as a system of matrix algebra where row/column locations hold data. And I do like the process as mimicking a memorization process. However the data is in the form of systematic number lines and can be recognized as counting.
