Currently, Concord High is 10-12 high school.
Starting next September Concord High School will be a 9 - 12 school. A
question has come up about Algebra I classes. Currently, Algebra I classes
at the Junior High are all 9th graders and the Algebra I classes at the
high school are a mix of grades 10 -12 with mostly 10th graders.
Next year, we were planning to open the Algebra I classes to all 9-12
grade students but it was questioned whether or not we should maintain 9th
grade only classes.
What do other High Schools that are now 9-12 do? Do you isolate the 9th
graders or do you mix all students who wish to enroll in an Algebra I
class? If you mix grades, do you feel that the 9th graders are
"intimidated" by the older students?
